Care
for the Wild International’s work to help Britain’s badgers is wide
ranging. As with all of our work we aim to make a difference by
providing practical help to aid animals in most need. Projects we
are involved in include working with the Secret World sanctuary to
care for orphaned badgers and campaigning against the cull of
Britain’s badgers.
Care for the Wild International works with Pauline Kidner at the
Secret World sanctuary in Somerset to care for orphaned badgers.
Cubs lucky enough to be rescued and taken to Pauline receive the
very best of care. Bottle fed, even throughout the night, and then
weaned onto solids, the cubs are given expert veterinary care
whenever needed and lashings of love and attention to prepare them
for release into the wild.
To help fund this project we run a badger adoption scheme which
allows people to support these vulnerable animals. By adopting a
badger our supporters are making a very personal connection with one
Britain’s best loved animals.

Although protected by law, tens of thousands of badgers have already been killed by the UK Government to try and eradicate bovine TB. However research shows this simply isn't the solution. As a result Care for the Wild International teamed up with Secret World Wildlife Rescue and Wildlife Aid to launch the ‘Black and White’ Campaign against badger culling.
This campaign drew attention to the flawed nature of culling and highlighted the welfare implications of widespread killing operations. The UK Government received over 47,000 responses to their consultation, revealing that 95% of respondents were opposed to a cull.

Much of the work we do is funded by our badger adoption scheme which allows people to support these wonderful animals. The rest of our work is funded by donations from our supporters.
Our
aim is to make a difference and help badgers wherever they are in
need and this work is just part of our overall practical work to
fight animal cruelty, promote animal welfare, rescue and help
animals in need and make a difference!
